If you’re experienced:
There are going to be some parts of this that are going to make you say "Duhh". If these thoughts cross your mind, please know that those sections were not written with you in mind. If you know the answer, feel free to skip the explanations! It is absolutely not my intention to lecture you on things you already know.
Because this is a pre-made website, we have to target everyone from freshman to seniors, and can’t pull just you aside to talk complex geology (which I’d love to do). With that being said- contact me! If you want to go more in depth into something, let me know! I’m only posting some of my pictures, and I also took field notes of these places. I would love to have a conversation, or even send some papers your way if that is something you want (LMulrooney@ufl.edu).
One other note particularly for y'all who have been on field trips before- I know you're biased towards the mountains. Everybody everywhere knows you're biased towards the mountains. I get it. They are beautiful, the weather is nice, and the views are just lovely. But this is a virtual field trip! and I really strongly encourage you to take a look at some of the stops selected from the piedmont and coast. Aside from the fact that they are very cool and interesting rocks (of all kinds) outside of the mountains, I also made the piedmont stops go a little bit more into the exciting geology, and a lot less basics. Don't miss out on the fun geology because you consider yourself a 'mountain gal' or 'mountain man'. Come to the piedmont. It's pretty cool! And being virtual- you don’t have to sit the car for extra hours to get there.
Let's get started!
