Welcome to the homepage for Good Shepherd's Pastoral Council & Parish ministries!
The Pastoral Council is an advisory body to our Pastor, Fr. Jozef Kovacik, and coordinates the Parish's five Standing Committees: Prayer & Worship, Parish Family/Life, Christian Service, Faith Formation and Fundraising. The Pastoral Council also works in conjunction with the Parish Staff & Finance Council, and supports the work of our Knights of Columbus Council & Catholic Daughters Court.
The Council consists of nine (9) selected members, two (2) ex-officio members, one (1) Youth Representative and five (5) Standing Committee representatives. Through a selection process and staggered terms, three (3) new members join the Council each year.
The current Council formed in March 2025. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month @ 6:30 PM in Classroom #2. A Zoom option is available for those who need it. Meetings are open to all parishioners.
We’d invite you to check out this site for more information about our Council and Parish ministries!

Lent is not about becoming perfect, but rather it is about growing in your faith!
What are your priorities in life right now? Lent is an invitation to rearrange your priorities - to focus on what matters most and leave behind what matters least
In addition to our weekly "Stations of the Cross", we are going to have an Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament after the 8:30 Mass on Wednesdays from 9am to 6pm. At 6pm we will have Vespers (the Church's evening prayer) along with Benediction.
Please sign up to spend a half hour, or longer. Signup sheets for the first 2 weeks (Feb 25th and March 4th) or in the gathering space.
Let us make that journey and experience the renewal Lent offers us so we can joyfully celebrate the new life given to us by Jesus’ redeeming death and resurrection.

Fish Dinners will begin on February 20th (4:00-6:30 PM) and continue for five weeks. A signup will be
available for those who wish to volunteer.

During Lent, Good Shepherd will host a workshop in essential spirituality that will address the theme of finding God in the present moment, amidst all the “stuff” of daily life. This event is an opportunity to build and strengthen your relationships with both God, and individuals inside and outside our parish. The content has been selected to be relevant to adults across a variety of Christian traditions, so the workshop is ecumenical in nature, and open to anyone that is interested.
Guided by Father Bernard Tickerhoof, the program will include interactive teaching with Q&A, scripturally-based prayer, small group work, and food. The instructional segments will be live-streamed and recorded for those not able to attend on-site. When possible, in-person attendance is strongly encouraged to facilitate the building of relationships among the attendees.
If you would like to attend, or contribute to the team that conducts the event, mark your calendars and save the dates. Additional information about content and registration will be available on the parish website in a week or so.
February 21st, 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM
March 21st, 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM
March 28th, 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Please contact Vince Bojan if interested in supporting this event!

Blessings to you in 2026! With the new year comes a new opportunity to share your time and talents with our beloved parish. Every year, three seats become available on the Parish Pastoral Council, which represents the Good Shepherd Church community. The Nominating Committee is inviting interested members to submit their names or nominate other parishioners for the next Council. The new Council members’ 3-year terms will begin in March 2026.
Our bylaws state that The Good Shepherd Parish Pastoral Council, following the directives “of Canon Law and the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown, studies and reflects upon matters pertaining to parish pastoral ministry and arrives at the practical conclusions on how to help the People of God pattern their lives and actions more closely on the Gospel.”
Council members are registered members of the parish, are willing to help shape the future of the parish, are good listeners (to the concerns of the community as well as other Council members), can respectfully dialogue, are able to attend the monthly meetings (either virtually or in person), and can prayerfully discern what is best for the parish to assist the pastor in decision-making.
The Nominating Committee is accepting nominations until February 15, 2026; the new Council members will be selected during Mass on February 22, 2026. All Council members should attend the Parish Council meeting on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 6:30 pm.
If you are interested in submitting a nomination for the Council members or would like to discuss the process in more detail, please contact anyone on the Nominating Committee:
