Does the technology allow students to focus on the task of the assignment or activity with less distraction (Time on Task)?
Nearpod allows students to stay focused on the task at hand, as this tool allows educators to sync their screens to their students devices. Additionally, because the educator is controlling the time spent on the lesson, the educator can control when to move on to the next slide or activity. By allowing the educator to stay in control of the slides while monitoring student activity, students stay engaged and move alongside the rest of their peers.
Does the technology motivate students to start the learning process?
Nearpod uses a combination of games, that encourage friendly competition, traditional lecture, virtual field trips, polls / quizzes, and student collaboration to keep students motivated in the learning process. Educators choose when to add in these tools to their lecture, allowing educators to customize their lesson plans by class!
Does the technology cause a shift in the behavior of the students, where they move from passive to active social learners (co-use or co-engagement)?
Nearpod causes a shift in the behavior of students from passive to active social learners by moving from the traditional lecture style to a more engaging style. Nearpod has many collaborative features that encourage co-use or co-engagement. Examples include Draw-it, Collaborative boards, and several games that encourage friendly competition amongst classmates.
