Nasi Jaha

Manado city has a lot of traditional food, one of the popular food is Nasi jaha. Some people say that Nasi jaha is ginger rice because the main ingredient is ginger, but that doesn’t mean ginger is the only seasoning. Apart from ginger there is pandan leaves, coconut milk as a flavoring, etc. Nasi jaha is easy to find here in Manado, its usually served at major celebrations such as Christmas, new year, or Thanksgiving Day, but it can also be found every day at places selling traditional or modern cakes (Dini Daniswari, 2022).  

Nasi jaha is a traditional food originally made by the people of the city of Manado. For this reason, the people of North Sulawesi often eat this food. Nasi jaha is also known because the process of making it uses bamboo and spices. This culinary has been in festivals such as TIFF festival and got the MURI record for the longest Nasi jaha category (Karel Alexander Polakitan, 2017).  

Nasi jaha is a traditional food that is known to many people in North Sulawesi so that it becomes a culture, a culture that must be maintained and preserved so that we do not lose our national identity, one of which is by holding cultural festivals so that we can introduce this culture to others (Neraca, 2023).
