Om Harshadh - I've learned that child abuse and other problems can be easily resolved if we just try to raise awareness.
Chloe- I've learned that there are actually more child abuse cases in Columbus alone then I had ever imagined. It isn't a very talked about subject, more of a forbidden conversation. It hurts my heart to hear of the many kids struggling with this.
Hudson-I learned that some of my friends have experienced child abuse, and that I am able to help if they need it.
Chandan- During this project, I have learned that child abuse is a common problem in our society, and that we can all make a change in our society if we raise awareness about the problem.
Aamani - In camp I learned that there's more to being a citizen then just following the rules. I learned that you can educate and spread the word of being a good citizen.
Cole-I learned how we can be a good citizen and take part in our community. We need to help out others and there are many ways to do that such as donating or even being the person to pass out the donated goods to others
Elsa- I learned that everyone can make a change, and we should advocate for ourselves and others. I also learned that we could be a good citizen by participating the community.
Aaron- I learned the importance of being a good citizen in the community. I also learned to be an upstander, and not a bystander.
Karol-During the week I learned what it means to be a good citizen, and how its not only worrying about yourself but about others too. Especially while working on this project about child abuse, and how even helping a small amount can have a huge impact. By advocating and supporting a cause we can raise awareness to communities. How by yourself you might not make a difference but with others, you can. For example the organization CASA, in 2022 they helped 750 kids in total suffering from child abuse. CASA works as a team not an individual, if we all work as a team we can raise more awareness. This is what it means to be a good citizen, helping others, spreading awareness, and advocating. So I thank the iEngage camp IUPUC for informing me what it means to be a good citizen and telling me how important it is to help others not just myself. This camp has been a good experience and I'm glad I attended.
Miyanna-I learned that there are more children being abused than we know of. It is a sad topic, so that is why we are here doing this project.
Izzy- This week I have learned that youth are a valued part of our community and can make a great difference, child abuse is a common (sadly) problem in Indiana, and that being a good citizen has more factors to it than just voting.
Masha- I've learned about about how to be a good citizen, and about children abuse.
