First read the story of "Cupid and Psyche" at http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/cupid.html , then write a comparison of this old Greek tale with that if the Brothers Grimm. Add two pictures to your blog, one from "The Frog King" and one for the "Cupid and Psyche" .
- Both the Brothers Grimm The Frog King and the old Greek tale Cupid and Psyche began the stories by telling about the king and his daughter's beauty. In the old Greek tale, the king and the queen had three daughters and the youngest of all three was the most beautiful. It described how everyone from all over the world would come and admire her however, words couldn't describe what they saw. In the Brothers Grimm tale, the king described her daughter as beautiful with eyes that were filled with such amazement. In the old Greek tale Psyche's downfall throughout all of the tale was that her curiosity got the best of her. In the Brothers Grimm tale, the princess problem was that she didn't understand responsibility. At first, she lost her ball in a well and the frog by the well promised to get it for her and only asked to be her companion. The minute she got her ball however, she forgot about the promise until her father forced her to go through with it. In both tales, the main character was together with things that at first glance would be concerned a monster. In the Greek tale Psyche's parents went to the oracle of Apollo and they said that she would be married to "no mortal lover" and that he was "a monster whom neither gods nor men can resist." In the Brothers Grimm, the princess was scared and disgusted to go anywhere near the frog. In one scene the frog wanted to go her room to get some sleep and carried the frog with her two fingers and put the frog in a corner futurist away from her. In both tales, the princess has swept away from her and taken to a castle. In the Greek tale, Cupid takes Psyche to castle with golden pillars and art that hung on the walls. In the Brothers Grimm, the king takes her to his kingdom after she breaks the curse.
