Reflect about the three versions of the story of "Bluebeard," the two by Brothers Grimm and the one by Charles Perrault. How are these three similar or different? What is unique about each one of them? Which one did (or didn't) you like the most? Why/ Why not?

The first difference between the each version of Bluebeard is the Bluebeard character. In the Charles Perrault version Bluebeard was a man of many riches. He owned half the town he lived in, lives in a country house, has gold and silver plates, has tapestries and coaches. His face more specifically his blue beard makes him ugly and feared by all the women in the town. In the Robber Bridegroom Bluebeard is a rich wealthy man with no flaws at first when he met the miller but, turned out to be a cannibal. In the Fither's Bird Bluebeard was a sorcerer who would disguise himself as a poor man and would travel door to door for beautiful girls. He would asked them for food and when they returned with the food he would touch and enchant them to go in his bag and bring them to his castle. One thing similar thought out all three version of Bluebeard is that the marriage between Bluebeard and the women was that it was always forced. In Charles Perrault version of Bluebeard the young daughter of his neighbors was convinced that "His beard wasn't a blue beard at all ." In the Robber Bridegroom Bluebeard was promised the millers daughter by her father because it didn't seem like anything was wrong with him. In the Fither's Bird each wife was enchanted and kidnapped by the sorcerer. Another thing that is different is how each of the wives escape from Bluebeard. In Charles Perrault version of Bluebeard the wife begged for her life and Bluebeard gave her 15 minutes for her to pray. The wife then ran upstairs and prayed to her sister Anne to see if she see her brothers. Anne does when Bluebeard walks in and almost kills the wife when the brother break in Bluebeard house. The brothers stabbed Bluebeard and the wife is set free from his control and walks away with all of his money. In the Robber Bridegroom the wife exposed Bluebeard cannibal ways through a story at her wedding. She retells how she hid behind a barrel and watch as her husband and his friends ate a women and chopped off her finger with her wedding ring. She held the finger high and showed it to the crowd and they sent Bluebeard to the Magistrate to answer to his crime. In the Fitcher's Bird the wife doused herself in honey and told all of Bluebeard's friend that she was throwing a wedding and "the wife" was looking through the window of the manor. She them gathered all of her family and locked Bluebeard and all of his friends and burned the place to the ground. Finally, all three versions of Bluebeard are similar because Bluebeard always dies at the end of the story. What unique about Charles Perrault version of Bluebeard is that Bluebeard was a rich man. The Robber bridegroom was unique because he was a cannibal. Finally, the Fitcher's Bird is unique because Bluebeard was a sorcerer. I personally like the Fither's Bird more because the wife tricked and escaped Bluebeard by using her wit.
