George HANMER (a mattress maker from Shropshire) married Catherine FLOOD in 1887. Most of the children were baptised at Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Church in Chesnut Grove, Wavertree.
They had the following children:
In 1901 the family were living in Waterloo Street, Wavertree - just opposite the Lamb Inn and Greenside House. As well as George and Catherine, there were Margaret, Elizabeth, James, George, Lucy, Catherine and Alfred. Catherine's father was also living with them.
In 1911, George and Catherine were living in Chapel Yard, Wavertree with children George, Alfred, Frederick and Sarah. They stated that they have had 13 children, of whom 4 have died. Elizabeth was working for the REDFERN famuly in Olive Mount as a domestic servant. She married Alfred HOUGHTON at Wavertree, Holy Trinity in 1916. By 1939, she and her children (who would have also been living in the house in 1934) had moved to Chesnut Grove, Wavertree. Frederick FLOOD was also living in the house. Sister Catherine (Katherine ) was living next door and Alfred HANMER (postman) and his wife Ethel lived a few doors away.
In 1925, Frederick and Alfred were living with their mother in Carno Road, Wavertree.
In 1934 the house was occupied by siblings Elizabeth, Frederick and Katherine.
Katherine HOPKINS (nee HANMER), married John HOPKINS in 1919. Catherine HOPKINS and her four children were living next door to the HOUGHTON family in Chesnut Grove in the 1939 register.
