Coach Tim Jeung was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area in California, USA. Being introduced to archery in the Scouting program, he began to pursue it as a professional sport in college and afterwards, becoming a certified instructor in 2016 and maintaining his certification since then. Coach Tim is a proud member of the local Asian American & Pacific Islander community, being of Chinese and Filipino descent, and has helped expand the reach of the sport into the local community. Outside of archery, he works as an educator and behavioral health support staff for special needs and at-risk youth, and is also involved in the dragon boat racing community.
The name "Greenbar" has a few meanings behind it:
In the "Scouting" program, experienced scouts in leadership positions wear rank patches featuring one or more green bars to represent their specific role. A "green bar" scout is one that ensures that all the scouts they oversee are able to learn the fundamentals of scouting and eventually work their way to a leadership position themselves. A good archery coach is one that one that is working to not just improve an archer's skill, but get them to the point where they can begin spreading their own knowledge and experience with others to grow the sport even more.
In video game culture, a green bar is usually displayed to indicate a character's health. When the bar is at full green, it usually means that the character has full health and is ready to begin the next adventure. The purpose of Greenbar Archery Coaching is to ensure that students feel prepared and fully ready-to-go by the time they go to the next competition, league, or other adventure!
