AGE/MATURITY:
MINIMUM AGE: (14+ YEARS*)
Mostly based on maturity level and physical ability, some archers younger than 14 may have issues with handling a full-size bow, especially if they don't have prior experience..
*Students younger than 14 may be accepted based on Initial Evaluation on case-by-case basis, please schedule a chat!
No "maximum" age!
FITNESS/ABILITY:
BOW SPECIFIC NEEDS:
Must be able to successfully pull a draw weight of 16 pounds or more for at least 30 minutes worth of shooting time.
Must have the physical ability to shoot their bow for at least 30 minutes while maintaining acceptable technique.
For those with less physical capability, you can discuss doing private lessons for strength building/stretchband work before moving on to a proper bow.
EDUCATION:
PRIOR EXPERIENCE:
No prior experience is needed! Basic experience is recommended for 1:1 private lessons however.
"Basic experience" can be the following:
Previous enrollment in an introductory archery lesson at an archery academy lasting at least one hour.
Previous enrollment in a school-based archery program.
BSA Archery Merit Badge partial (mostly filled)/completed blue card.
Self-learning for at least 3-5 total hours worth of practice time.
MATURITY:
Must be able to understand and follow directions from the coach.
Must adhere to all safety rules and guidelines as explained by the shooting range in use, and by the coach.
Must be able to maintain focus on the subject for the duration of the lesson time.
Must be able and willing to ask questions on their own relating to the session's lesson plan if needed.
OVERALL ABILITY:
Must be able to stand upright with no issues for at least 1 hour.
Para-Archers shooting from the sitting position are accepted and will have a different lesson plan, though they may need to bring their own equipment.
Must be able to fully extend their bow arm (non-dominant side of their body) and lock it in place.
It is not recommended to practice archery if you have serious back, shoulder, or arm injuries or issues. Discuss your personal needs with your coach before shooting.
LANGUAGE:
Must understand and speak fluent English, or provide your own means of accurate translation. Discuss your personal needs with your coach before shooting.
EQUIPMENT:
YOUR "FULL SETUP" INCLUDES:
Bow (Limbs, Riser, Necessary Attachments, etc.)
Arrows (Correct Spine + Length for You)
Safety Gear (Armguard, Finger Tab, etc.)
Necessary Accessories (Sight, Stabilizer Rods, etc.)

BY DIVISION:
Barebow Recurve:
+ Must Have Own Full/Rent (If Available)
Olympic Recurve:
+ Must Have Own Full Setup
+ Some Equipment Can Be Borrowed To Try Out
Compound Bowhunter/Freestyle:
+ Must Have Own Full Setup
Traditional (Longbow, Horsebow, etc.):
+ Must Have Own Full Setup
Starting Out/No Division Yet:
+ Basic Setup May Be Loaned/Rented Out Based On Availability
