History: Traditional vessel of the Eastern Aegean. The main features of Varkala is the shape of its stern, which abruptly stops into prow and the upright floating pedestal. The prow can be vertical or tilted backwards and is often decorated with wooden carving at its ends. This stern shape gives the Varkala a wider deck in the stern.
