"Farers" is a term used to describe beings not of Earth, but whose powers extend far into the deeps of space and are, in most ways, unfathomable to earthbound beings. One might consider them "gods" as they are immortal, though they do not possess any great omniscience nor do most of them desire to intervene in the affairs of what might be deemed "lesser beings". Even given their immense power, however, most of them can be harmed or even destroyed (only one Farer, Kala, is known to undergo cycles of rebirth). They are wanderers, usually in search of some great purpose.
Mythindra, the Pallid Mother
Mythindra, also called Moonfarer, was one of the first to reveal themselves to the universe after its forming. She was perhaps the most beloved of all Farers for she was beautiful and fascinating without equal. She, like many of the others, wandered the cosmos without aim in search of her greater purpose. She desired to create and nurture and so thought to bare offspring of her own, settling upon moons in distant galaxies to give birth across many ages of the universe to creatures that on Earth are now called demons.
Those who beheld Mythindria were awed by her beauty. Some legends say the Earth's moon was a gift to her by another Farer that fell in love when gazing upon her for the first time.
Cirogaan and the languid arm of Mangata
Perhaps Mythindra's most notable children were Cirogaan the Golden and his twin sister Mangata, who would be called the Pallid Stillborn, her last offspring. They were born many long ages after the Earth was formed. Mangata suffered great illness and died within her mother's womb. Though never truly confirmed, some say Cirogaan's power was too great for her to bear and caused her afflictions by the radiation his body emitted. In a desperate act of grief, and after giving birth to the twins, Mythindra consumed the corpse of Mangata. This was lethal to Mythindra as it befouled her body and caused her death thereafter, leaving behind her son Cirogaan and only the languid arm of his sister.
Many of the other Farers mourned the death of Mythindra, as did her children and scores of other beings. One such other was the Game Keeper Hume.
Mirith
Mirth (sometimes called Mirith Firstborn) is one of the oldest of the Farers and one of the few that briefly made a home on Earth, taking the form of a beautiful young woman with fiery red hair.
While many of the Farers seemed to toil over the labors of creation, Mirith grew wholly complacent with the vast emptiness of the cosmos and grew to desire disparity. She is mentioned in the Leash of Chaos as the third Farer to emerge. To her, existence was meaningless without change and consequence. Light was incomplete without darkness. Heat was incomplete without the cold. Life was incomplete without death. Her imagination spawned some of the universe's greatest mysteries. She does not have any allegiances to speak of, at least, none that anyone knows or could even fathom.
It is rumored that Mirith has several offspring, though their whereabouts are unknown.
