What is Graphic Design?
It is the art of practicing to use visual elements to pass on messages and ideas through the use of colours, images, typography, as well as layout, which creates visual content for both print and digital media.
History of Graphic Design:
The history of Graphic Design can be traced back to before the 1400s. In 35,000 BCE, the earliest human used images as a way of telling their stories; in some cases, these took the form of Cave Paintings. Additionally, the Egyptians in 3100 BCE used hieroglyphic symbols as a form of communication and decoration.
At the dawn of the 1400s, this was the beginning of the printing revolution in which Johannes Gutenberg developed the Gutenberg Printing Press, which enabled mass production of books, making typography central to design.
Between the 1700s and 1900s, the Industrial Revolution began. During this time, new printing technologies were developed, making mass colorful media possible. It was also during this time that there was a boom in advertising, in which there were more posters and packaging designs available.
By the 1980s to 2000s, Personal computers & software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and desktop publishing transformed design.
