Digital Citizenship and Safety

Skills:

I learned the importance of using strong passwords and reputable sites.
I learned how important understanding digital citizenship is and how to manage your digital footprint.
I learned how to navigate the internet safely and how to teach future students how to be safe on the internet.

My Connection:

Now that I have learned about digital citizenship, managing my digital footprint, and how to be safe online, I can effectively prepare my students to use online resources. Schools are switching more to online learning and relying more on the internet and children need to be informed on how to navigate resources safely, how to make strong passwords, and digital citizenship. I am now prepared to teach my future students about digital citizenship and how to use the internet and online resources for educational purposes safely.

Code of Ethics Training for Public Servants

Skills:

I learned that acting according to a code of ethics is important as teachers since we are public servants.
I learned that, in many cases, accepting gifts from students or parents is unethical.
I learned that a person cannot used their position to get themselves or anyone else anything.

My Connection:

I plan to be a teacher, specifically an early childhood teacher. Knowing what is ethical and unethical to do is necessary. I learned what can be accepted as a gift from students. Many times, teachers receive gifts and I now know what is okay to accept. I learned that you cannot ask or use a family member to help you get a position in a job that you want. That is unethical. I learned about many different things that can be considered unethical and how to avoid these things as a teacher.

I learned how to access resources through three different technological tools.
I learned how each of these tools can be used in the classroom and how they can enhance a lesson.
I learned how each of these tools can keep students engaged in a lesson through games, videos, and online lessons.

My Connection:

Now that I have learned about these valuable resources, I can use them in my future classroom to keep my students engaged. I learned how to access and navigate three different websites that have a range of subjects which I can use in my future classroom. These technological tools can be used in the future to enhance my lessons and keep students interested and having fun with their classwork.

Google For Educators

Skills:

I learned how to navigate Google Classroom and how to use it effectively.
I learned how to create quizzes using Google Forms.
I learned how all Google applications are connected and how to navigate through them all collaboratively.

My Connection:

I have learned all about Google applications and all of these applications will help me be a better teacher in the future. I can stay organized and use these applications to give my students access to their assignments at all times. I can now effectively use Google applications in my classroom in the future since I passed the G4E Exam.

Google Classroom

Skills:

I learned how to create and customize my own Google Classroom.
I learned how to create assignments and enter due dates, available points, and link materials within the assignment.
I learned how to copy all assignments and grades into Google Sheets to create a gradebook.

My Connection:

We created a Google Classroom with materials, assignments, questions, and had to grade assignments. In my future classroom, I will know how to navigate Google Classroom in an effective way for my students. I can use all of the features of Google Classroom to create easily accessible assignments and materials for my students.

By creating my first resume, I learned how to format a resume.
I learned how to narrow down information and only include what is necessary.
I learned how to communicate with possible references professionally and effectively to ask if they would be a reference.

My Connection:

Learning how to create a resume is something everyone needs to know. Having a good resume could be the difference in getting the job you want or not. Now that we have worked in class and learned how to create an effective, concise resume, I will be more likely to get a job in the future.

Autobiography Movie

Skills:

I learned how to create a video using PowerDirector.
I learned how to edit clips and videos together to make one movie.
I learned how to add voice-overs and audios to visuals to create a movie.

My Connection:

Learning how to create movies and put videos together can be helpful in the future as a teacher. I could create fun learning videos for my students and post them to YouTube so that my students would have access to them as well as other students around the world. Creating videos and knowing how to add audio and clips together can be a great way to create a lesson video or introduction to a lesson to show students a fun video in class.
