Using AutoCAD, I designed the front of my bandsaw box. The idea was roughly based off of other bandsaw boxes I found online. With AutoCAD, I used features such as fillets, mirror, and arc to draw it out. After it was designed, I dimensioned it and printed it out to help me during construction.
I took the long piece of wood (see in video) and drew a vertical line for every six inches, both vertically and horizontally. The wood was 6 inches wide, about 4 or 5 feet long, and 3/4 inches high. I cut 8 of these 6 x 6 squares. Stacked together, these make a 6 x 6 x 6 cube.

Miter saw
A bandsaw box requires multiple pieces of wood to be put together, which is what I completed in this step. One at a time, I spread glue on the upper side of each piece until they were all placed together. After they were all aligned and in place, I used a few clamps to make sure they stayed together. Due to putting a little too much glue, my pieces shifted a little bit. But this was an easy problem to fix with a little cutting and sanding!
Materials used:
Wood glue
Brush
Metal clamps
After letting the glue sit overnight, my box was ready to cut. Before I began to cut out the design, I cut off the back in order to cut out the drawer shapes. This would later be glued back on once the drawer shapes were cut out. I printed out the design from step one and taped it onto the front of the box, so I could use it as an outline while cutting. Once the drawer shapes were cut out as well, the front and back were taken off, they were hollowed out, and glued back together.
Materials Used:
Bandsaw
Push stick
Since my box design had a lot of curves and rounded edges, a lot of sanding needed to be done to 1. Round out the imperfections and 2. smooth the surface. I used both sandpaper and the sanding machines to achieve this. A lot of sanding had to be done on the sides to remove glue residue, or else the stain would not stick to the box.
Materials used:
Disc sander
Belt sander
Multiple kinds of sandpaper
Since my bandsaw box was made to look like an apple, I decided on a dark red stain for the outside. For the faces of the drawers, I chose a semi-transparent stain to give it a more finished look.
Materials used:
Stain
Cloth
Gloves
Ta da! This is how my finished bandsaw box looks.
