The black part is the engraving, and the outline is where the laser cuts.
I pulled an image offline and used various sites such as VCarve and Autocad to outline what would need to be cut out or engraved onto the plywood.
The cutting process
This was the second plywood cut that I made with the CO2 laser. It is intended to double as a phone holder and as a little box for pens and such. The elephants are the sides and the boxes are the sides and bottom of the inbetween. Once it was all cut out, the kerfs were inserted into the cutouts to hold it together.

The finished product
Using a website called MakerCase, I constructed a customized and unique carboard box. I changed the amount of kerfs, which are the outer and inner tabs that hold it together. Once they were all cut out, I put the pieces together one by one, taped them so they would stay together, then glued the entire box together. Once the glue dried, I removed the tape and put on the top of the box.
