Google Play Store, commonly referred to as Play Store, is an official app store developed and maintained by Google for Android operating systems. It was initially launched in October 2008 as the Android Market, but it was later renamed as the Google Play Store in March 2012. Today, it is the primary app distribution platform for the Android operating system, providing users access to millions of mobile applications.
Our dataset is a comprehensive collection of information on over 10,000 apps available on the Google Play Store. The data was collected from two primary sources - Kaggle and Google Play Store.
Kaggle. (n.d.). Google Play Store Apps. Retrieved from https://www.kaggle.com/lava18/google-play-store-apps
Google Developers. (n.d.). Google Play API. Retrieved from https://developers.google.com/android-publisher
The dataset contains 13 different attributes of each app, including the app name, category, rating, reviews, size, installs, type, price, content rating, genres, last updated, current version, and Android version. These attributes provide a holistic view of the apps and their performance on the Google Play Store.
In total, we analyzed 10,841 apps across 32 different categories. The dataset was pre-processed and cleaned to ensure accuracy and consistency of the data. The insights gathered from this dataset can help app developers and marketers understand user behavior and preferences, and make informed decisions to optimize their apps for better performance on the Google Play Store.
