After years of living in Wayne Manor, Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth have discovered a mystery within the manor. There has been a mysterious noise coming from inside the walls, with the duo questioning what mystery lies inside the walls of Wayne Manor. This traditional bus-bar dark ride is geared towards a younger crowd, as it provides a more light-hearted story and a tamer ride system.
The exterior is, of course, Wayne Manor. After only getting a glimpse of it in The Batman (2022), Disney revealed the official look of the manor through this land, which will be seen in The Batman: Sub-Zero later in time. The gothic-inspired architecture with the dirty, gray bricks and gargoyle sculptures offer a glimpse of the mysterious nature of the ride.
The queue takes place both inside and outside. The outside portion is a garden featuring sculptures and a garden topiary that resemble the gothic vibe that the manor has. As guests progress through the garden and into the manor, guests are greeted to the grand foyer where aches of a dark gray color surround the large windows near the ceiling of the two-story building. Guests follow a winding path to the upper level of the building where their ride vehicle awaits.
As guests load into their vehicle, there is a large, circular window that lets them see over Gotham City. Once all six seats are filled and locked in, guests move forward into the study room where an Andy Serkis as Alfred AA reading some books and filing papers.
“Welcome to Wayne Manor. We have asked for you to help look into this mysterious sound that has been rattling in the walls.” As Alfred states, a rattling sound is heard on the side of the wall where Alfred is not at. Guests progress into the next room where Alfred is gathering tools for what seems like making a hole into the wall. The room is crimson red with a large table covered with different tools and gadgets.“I was hoping you would join me in looking for this sound around Wayne Manor. Who knows what we might need.”
The vehicles move out of the room and into a hallway with pictures of the Wayne Family. An Alfred AA is seen knocking on the walls with his ear pressed up against it. Once guests turn and reach the end of the hallway, they see Alfred leading them into a dark passageway. “I knew it sounded too hollow. Come on. Let’s take a look.”
The secret passageway seemingly looks like a save with lanterns being the only course lighting on either side of the walls. However, along the walls, there are numbers written in random order. They are all painted on the rock with reds, blacks, and purples. As the vehicles progress through the cave, Alfred points out that red and black colors show considerably more than the purple ones. When turning the corner, there is a large room with a vault near the other side of the room.
An Alfred AA stands at the edge of the wall with the numbers still trailing on. “Remember the purple numbers. I have a feeling they might mean something.” As guests pass the wall, there is a series of purple numbers: 3422. Once Alfred puts the code in, the vault opens and reveals a series of purple journals laid out on a display. “Journals, interesting. But what about that sound?” As guests turn the corner, a small group of bats appears hovering over their heads. This sequence only lasts a few seconds before we reach back into the house, and Alfred opens a window. “Seems like the bats escaped the Batcave. Let’s go take the journals down there.”
This next portion of the ride is an elevator that takes guests a few feet down, back to ground level. The elevator is not fast and is made to be tamer for the younger crowd. There are two elevators with the track changing each time to allow for a steady flow into the Batcave. Once guests reach the Batcave, Alfred is scanning info of the purple journals in a large room to offer as much time for the dialogue. “Martha’s journals. I knew they were hers because purple is her favorite color. Can’t wait to see what mysteries lie here. Thank you for all your help!” After guests turn a corner, they unload the vehicle and walk through part of Batcave, and back outside.
