App Development Process
The app is currently hosted on the Platform Expo, which enables us to create the app for iPhone, Android, and Web. We are utilizing the open-source UI software framework React-Native to create our app.
We are currently developing the app to allow for access to bus navigation through Transit's API, which is already established with the City of Austin and enables us to locate real-time bus data.
We are working on how a partnership with E-Scooter companies could allow access to their API, which will allow us to have access to scooter locations and payment options through the app,
Home Screen
The home screen will allow for users to log in using their UTEID. Here they will be able to select their mode of choice.
Route Locator
After selecting their preffered mode choice, they will be able to see their route and time to their destination.
Payment Screen
A QR code will be generated here to process their ticket to access the bus or scooter. However, it will be free or affordable options.
Click here to access the current stage of development of the app.
Disclaimer: This app is currently only for visual purposes and does not have actual functionality to make trips.
In the future, we hope to collaborate with other departments to create a functional app with all features of a MaaS app. The ability to access the UT system will allow for proper student login and possibly an improvement upon the current UT app.
