Module Description
“Little Blues Rockers" is an engaging and immersive program designed to introduce PreK students to the rich history and cultural significance of blues music. In partnership with Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation we provide a series of fun and interactive lessons, young learners will embark on a journey to explore the origins of blues, learn about influential blues musicians, and gain an understanding of the 12-bar blues structure.
Students will have the opportunity to express their thoughts, observations, and imaginations by participating in group activities that encourage creativity and collaboration. They'll explore how music can convey feelings and experiences while gaining insight into how instruments and art forms reflect cultural perspectives from both the past and present.
In addition to historical exploration, "Little Blues Rockers" will guide students in the fundamentals of songwriting. They will compose and record their original blues song, allowing them to apply their newfound knowledge and express their unique voices through music.
By actively engaging with the blues genre, students will develop an appreciation for this influential musical style while reinforcing key concepts, such as self-expression and cultural awareness.
