In this one-week, teacher-led unit, students explore how personal stories can illuminate global issues. Through the lens of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), each student selects a topic they care about (like clean water, gender equality, or climate action) and pairs it with a country where the issue is relevant.
They then research and reflect on a real person’s experience connected to that challenge—amplifying individual voices while learning about global systems. The week culminates in a student-created project that combines storytelling, empathy, and creative expression.
Students will explore how visual art and music are used in advertising to raise awareness, influence emotions, and inspire action. Over five days, they will learn about digital storytelling strategies and create their own social good campaign around a global or local issue they care about. Projects will blend art, sound, and message design into a short digital ad.
In this one-week project, students in grades 5-12 will explore the powerful world of TED-style presentations and learn how to communicate ideas that truly matter. Through guided analysis, personal reflection, and structured writing, students will identify a personal passion, global issue, or “idea worth spreading.” They’ll craft and deliver a 2–3 minute talk that incorporates storytelling, clear messaging, and confident public speaking skills.
By the end of the week, each student will take the stage—virtually or in person—to share their voice and inspire others.
Design. Analyze. Persuade.
In this one-week immersive challenge from Global Lighthouse Studios, students step into the role of a theme park designer tasked with choosing the perfect global location for Neon World—a glow-in-the-dark amusement park like no other.
Using real-world data on geography, tourism, climate, and hours of darkness, students compare three potential cities: Nashville (USA), Manly (Australia), and São Paulo (Brazil). They’ll explore maps, analyze information, weigh pros and cons, and ultimately draft a persuasive letter recommending where the park should be built.
This project combines critical thinking, geography, data literacy, and persuasive writing—all through a fun, imaginative lens that brings classroom learning to life.
