The Daytona 500 is the most prestigious race in NASCAR and takes place annually at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida! Held in February, it marks the start of the NASCAR Cup Series season and is often called the "Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing."
Known for its high-speed action, dramatic finishes, and rich history, the event attracts racing fans from around the world. Beyond the race itself, visitors can enjoy fan experiences, concerts, and local attractions, making it a must-visit destination for sports and travel enthusiasts alike.
What can you bring inside?
What was shocking about the race was what we were allowed to bring in! I was expecting it to be like a concert, where you are allowed a very small purse. NOPE!
At the Daytona 500, NASCAR allows fans to bring a soft-sided cooler (maximum 14"x14"x14") with food and beverages, including beer and other alcohol such as spiked seltzers (but must be in cans)! No hard liquor is allowed. I would highly recommend bringing your own alcohol/snacks/sandwiches because as expected, it is very pricey.
If it rains, you will want to bring a few things in your backpack because there will be a delay for a few hours.
You can bring things such as:
Jacket
Panchos
Sweatpants
Blanket
Headphones/earplugs (highly reccomend)
During the morning/afternoon it was 85 degrees, but by 2 pm it was raining and we were all freezing! In Florida there is no telling when there will be a rain shower.
Anywhere near the racetrack will be very expensive. If you are okay with spending extra to stay nearby here are a few hotles:

For a more affordable option, I would recommend booking a hotel/AirBNB in Orlando Florida which is a reasonable driving distance. If you have a car, I would recommend purchasing a parking pass, we realized that it is well worth it. **If you were to Uber, it would be an incredibly long wait.
