Agriculture
Farming, animals and livestock produce greenhouse gases such as methane and nitrous oxide that severely contribute to global warming. The main sources include cow belching, natural and synthetic fertilisers, field burning, fuel, the addition of waste to soil, rice production.
Globally, agricultural emissions are continuing to increase as a result of population growth and dietrary preferences.
Deforestation
Plants are essential to the climate system as they absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the air. However, humans are burning and clearing out vast areas of forest to make way for farming and urban development, and in doing so carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere contributing to global warming.
Fossil Fuels
The burning of fossil fuels such as coal and gas for heat, electricity and transportation releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Coal and petroleum are the two major contributers of greenhouse gases.
Plastic waste
Plastic products are made from fossel fuels like oil and natural gas, which when extracted release toxic gases. Plastic production and transportation both cause greenhouse gas emissions, like methane and carbon dioxide, while also being a major pollution source worldwide.
