Planet Earth is getting warmer. 

Earth's surface temperature has risen about 0.9°C since the late 19th Century, leading to climate change, a rise in ocean levels, intense heat waves, shrinking ice sheets and loss of sea ice. The main reason behind modern global warming is human activity, with the release of greenhouse gases causing the Earth's climate system to change in response.
