Gethsemane Family Prayer
Fort Portal, Jinja, and Kampala, Uganda
Holy Cross Family Ministries Uganda started the Gethsemane Family Prayer this year in June to encourage families to pray and heal family bondage.
Every 2nd Saturday of the Month, families gather at St. Peter’s Catholic Parish Nsambya in Kampala for a day’s program; we start with praying the Holy Rosary, a talk on the healing of family bondages, Prayer Session, Adoration, and Confessions and conclude with a Holy Mass.
The ‘’Gethsemane Family Prayer’’ has helped families learn how to pray together, know more about Mother Mary and the Rosary, fervently pray for their families bondages, stay firm in their Faith, and know more about the Mission of HCFM in Uganda and the World at Large.
A participant shared with us how the Gethsemane family prayer has changed her life and that of her family. 'I am a catholic, but I have moved in most of my religious beliefs seeking help; whatever I do doesn’t prosper; I was told I was bewitched by my sister to stay in this miserable condition, and a friend told me about this prayer, the day I came they taught us about praying without seizing for the bondages but together as a family.
I had taken some time without talking to my sister because I believed she was the one bewitching me, I organized a family prayer, asked for forgiveness, and we started praying for the misfortunes together as a family; right now, unity, peace, and love has restored at home', noted Elizabeth during the sharing after three months of attending the Gethsemane Family Prayer.
The prayers started with 400 people, and every month there is an increment; so far, more than 700 have turned up for this family prayer day.
