Father Jilson Tom, C.S.C. with Father Willy Raymond, C.S.C. and Father Pinto Paul, C.S.C. at the Grand Opening of the Museum of Family Prayer
Dear HCFM Team Members,
Today we had a good-bye cake and presentation cards and spontaneous, off-the-cuff comments from a few for Father Jilson Tom, C.S.C. However, I would be remiss not to mention how much Father Jilson has contributed to all of us and how admirable are the personal qualities and habits he possesses and has shared with us since January of 2018.
During his 3and ½ years with us, he has begun and completed a demanding curriculum online at Divine Mercy University and gained a Master’s Degree in Psychology and leadership with GPA of 99+.
Father Jilson has assisted in nearly every area of the Peyton Center mission activities, learning the video-streaming process, managing controls, teleprompting, preaching and presiding at Mass, cooking uniquely savory meals, somewhat challenging to the American palate but worth the challenge. I cannot recall anyone working longer hours and being such a true servant leader in our ministry.
We will all miss his team spirit and delightful presence, his deep faith, deep voice, and dedication.
One consolation is that he is being called home to the Northeast of India to provide leadership for the largest school of Holy Cross in the Northeast. There are more than 5000 students in two daily sessions. Dealing with all the complexities of such a large educational institution will be demanding.
Father Jilson, you are up to the task. Remember, God never gives a task without also giving the grace to accomplish it.
This past weekend, the children of the Salette community spoke movingly about the impact Father Jilson has had on them and their formation. One said, “Father Jilson, we know you are going far away and will have other children to look after. Please do not forget us back here.”
We can say the same thing. Do not forget us back here, come back to visit in the summers and trust that we will keep you in our prayers and our hearts.
Father Willy Raymond, C.S.C., President
