Through the newly formed Media Team, headed by Public Relations Officer, Kristin Ng, Glen A. Wilson NAMI presents the first HLPUSD Virtual Mental Health Assembly. In efforts to produce more relatable youth mental health education for teens and preteens in our district, Media Team creates a 10-minute assembly, fully facilitated by students, to be shown in May and Mental Health Awareness Month. Student-directed segments include guest speakers, such as Wilson Principal, Dr. Kenfield, and Los Angeles baseball legend, Dave Roberts, a student-created PSA, and a Q&A session with Wilson Psychologists and Counselors. By playing the assembly in every Wilson High School classroom, partnering to show all Mesa Robles Middle School students, hosting lunchtime activities at Wilson High School, and creating a comprehensive mental health education/resources website, the group aims to destigmatize mental health at younger ages and make an impact within our district. Growth and increases in knowledge were shown through pre and post surveys through Google Forms to over 900 students.

Cabinet gives presentation at general meeting on celebrities that have publicly undergone mental health struggles, displaying to members and students the universality in the experience and destigmatize seeking help and prioritizing taking care of oneself, then broadening reach of message by utilizing social media.
03/06/25 - At a general meeting, Cabinet presents examples of celebrities that have navigated with their mental health in the public eye, giving context to each of their stories. Connected the presentation to the purpose of club by showing how common struggles are, but someone starting the conversation around mental health destigmatizes and makes others more comfortable in reaching out.
03/07/25 - To further spread the message farther than club members, an Instagram graphic was created by NAMI's Public Relations Officer and included the same information as mentioned in the meeting. Instagram post was collaborated with the Glen A. Wilson ASB Instagram account to show on their followers' profiles. The post was viewed over 3600 times, with over 91% of views being from those who do not follow GAWHS NAMI.
Cabinet spreads awareness on Narcan, including how to administer the nasal spray to a person who is overdosing on opioids and the urgency of how it is used. Through this project, Wilson is more prepared for substance related emergencies on campus and educated on the severity of such situation.
10/10/24 - At a general meeting, Cabinet presents an instructional video on what Narcan is and how to use it. Questions related to the video were asked to members in return for candy prizes.
10/24/24 - At the following general meeting, Cabinet demonstrates how Narcan would be administered to another person. Then, members practiced in groups the proper way to take care of someone overdosing with the spray.
12/20/24 - Cabinet arranges a presentation with the entire Wilson staff, including 100 teachers and faculty, to show an original instructional video on the administration of Narcan. Going forward, Narcan will be accessible to teachers in strategic locations across campus for emergency use.
