05/10/25 - Over 30 members attend NAMI Walks of Greater Los Angeles County at Los Angeles Historic Park. As the last event of the year, participants interacted with the mental health initiatives, activities, and our affiliates from NAMI Pomona Valley.
04/23/25 - Cabinet attends 2025 GirlsBuild National Summit along with 6000 female youth leaders at YouTube Theater. Networked with youth support programs and listened to guest speakers that hold powerful positions as women such as county supervisors, entrepreneurs, journalists, and basketball players.
03/18/25 - Over 40 members attend the So You Think You Can Dance Workshop, in collaboration with Foothill Family. Led by celebrity choreographer Mario Mosley, students learned a short combination to "Debut" by Katseye and understood how the arts and movement contributes to positive mental wellness. Some students selected to learn and perform an extended dance piece for Foothill Family's Gala for fire victims.
02/20/25 - Members decorate craft masks to display their outward perception on the outside and their self image on the inside. Idea inspired by Tricia Creason-Valencia from her talk at the 2024 NAMI California Conference.
02/05/25 - Forty-five students from across the district, in grades 6-12, participated in a ninety minute art lesson from HLPUSD art teacher. Students produced a Frida Kahlo inspired work utilizing a variety of watercolor techniques.
12/14/24 - Members spent lunch creating posters with encouraging messages admist finals studying season. Posters were hung up around campus for the final week of the fall semester.
12/12/24 - Ninety attendees had the opportunity to hear from guest speakers, participate in crafts, and listen to the student led panel all about mental health in youth. Planning in partnership with NAMI California for the first ever Youth Symposium at Glen A. Wilson High School.
12/05/24 - Forty-five students from across the district, in grades 6-12, participated in a seventy-five minute yoga session with certified yoga instructor and Wilson teacher, Mrs. Estes. In partnership with the Hacienda-La Puente Unified School District's Teen Wellness Series.
11/16/24 - Over thirty members participate in the NAMI Walk 5K at Angels Stadium, while networking with the vendor booths before and after the event.
11/09/24 - Forty members attend the Alzheimer's Association of California Southland's Walk to End Alzheimer's at Exposition Park. Finishing the one mile walk, participants had fun with additional activities and exploring the vendor booths.
10/26/24 - Members participated in a Movie Night, discussing a video from the Glowmedia video site regarding suicide and coping. Members enjoyed snacks as they watched the film.
10/19/24 - Members volunteered for the AFSP Suicide Prevention Out of the Darkness Walk at the Santa Monica Pier helping set up, run activity booths, cheer on walkers, and clean up the event.
10/03-04/24 - Cabinet attends the 2024 NAMI California Annual Conference at the J.W. Marriott Anaheim Resort to listen to youth centered workshops and network with a community of mental health advocates.
09/26/24 - Cabinet gives an educational presentation about substance use and suicide prevention at general meeting. Club wears yellow to close September's Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.
09/25-26/24 - Recruited new members at Club Rush by answering questions to prospective members and building excitement for upcoming activities. Asked students to take photos using three promotional signs and created a recap reel for Instagram.
08/07/24 - Cabinet created yard signs to put at the entrance of Glen A. Wilson High School to provide encouragement on the first week of school. Cabinet gathered together before school started to make signs and placed them at the entrance on the morning of the first day of school.
05/04/24 - Twenty members complete the NAMI Los Angeles Walk for Mental Health Awareness, participating in fun crafts and games before and after the event.
04/24/24 - Students learn basic yoga poses, the importance of taking care of personal wellness, and short guided meditation. In collaboration with the Fitness Club and HOSA Mental Health Committee, led by Glen A. Wilson teacher, Ms. Estes.
