Glastonbury Friends of Housing
Report on Housing Research Findings to Date; Proposed Recommendations
January 14, 2026
Glastonbury Friends of Housing (GFH) is a group of local residents who came together in late 2024 to help address our town’s housing shortage and affordability issues. How? By researching, raising awareness, engaging community members, and promoting solutions. Our vision is to encourage the development of more housing that is affordable, well-designed, sustainable, and complementary to our community.
Striving to be thoughtful and informed emissaries about housing within our community, GFH members have met with experts, studied the underlying issues, listened to our fellow residents’ stories of trying to find suitable housing, and attended town government meetings. In our meetings, members have also reviewed and discussed the research done by our Study Subcommittee members, including their findings on the crisis and proposed recommendations for promoting more housing options in town.
A report of our research findings to date and proposed recommendations, along with an executive summary, can be found in the links below. The report involves key issues affecting the housing market and shortage, and their impacts on households and the community. The report’s contents include:
a summary of GFH’s research and findings on housing issues to date;
our proposed recommendations aimed at promoting progress and further discussion on these matters;
and
appendices that offer additional details on each issue, as well as citations to the sources we used to develop our findings.
Our learning and research are ongoing, and we intend to update this report periodically. We welcome your questions, insights and information. In this regard, please e-mail us at glastonburyfriendsofhousing@gmail.com.
