First and foremost, the most important accessory you can wear is your smile.
What you choose to wear makes all the difference in how good you look and feel, and understanding the principles and elements of design can help make decisions. Think of your outfits as a piece of art!
White makes things bigger and black makes things smaller.
Adding space, volume or patterns makes things look bigger.
The direction of the line can add thickness. For example, multiple horizontal lines will make you wider and vertical lines will make you look taller; however, when a line is formed from a single ribbon or belt, a horizontal line can shrink a body part, like your waist.
The size of an item will look like...the size of the item. Sounds simple, but consider that low-cut jeans will make you appear to have short legs and high-waisted jeans will make your legs look longer. Small straps will make your shoulders look more narrow and puffy sleeves will make your shoulders look broader.
Sometimes you can't hide a feature so you can draw attention to your other parts in the hopes that people will 'avoid' noticing the negative part.
Finally, adding jewelry like watches, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and a purse or bag can really add a touch of class to any outfit.
The fit of your clothes is everything. Don't wear clothes that are too long, too tight, too short, too loose. It's better to have one well fitted outfit that doesn't completely compliment you than one that fits the rules, but doesn't quite fit you.

You can wear black on the bottom and full, patterned tops around the bust.
Avoid baggy waisted tops because they will make you look like a blob.
You can wear halter tops and add layering or 'fluff' around the hips.
Avoid fitted tops paired with fitted bottoms unless the bottoms are patterned or you use a belt.
The Apple
The Hourglass
You can wear flowing tops with patterned leggings, or fitted tops with volumizing skirts.
Avoid wearing white on top and black on bottom.
You can wear fitted clothes or fluffy tops paired with fluffy bottoms as long as you wear a belt.
Avoid boxy dresses because you don't want to minimize your natural curves.
