Field work

TRABAJO DE CAMPO

The foundations of understanding species interactions lies in spending a lot of time in the field.

2012 - Present. Mixed-species flocks of birds as a strategy

Following mixed-species flocks across South America to understand their behaviour and different types of these social interactions that occur.

Vocalization studies to understand how different species communicate between them.

2021 - Present. Population status and ecology of the Guacho andino (Agriornis albicauda) in high altitude grassland, Tucuman.

2022 - Present. Bird diversity surveys for Seamos Bosques.

Seamos Bosques is a habitat restoration project in Yungas Forest of Tucuman province.

The main goal is to perform a 3-year birds diversity survey to know the seasonality and preferred habitat types of the bird species that inhabit this restoration project

2022. Sani Research Camp, Ecuador Conservation, OPWALL.

Senior scientist for Opwall in Ecuador Site: Sanni Isla Community. My main work was to lead the different research teams (ornithologist, botanist, entomologist, herpetologist, mammalogist, and anthropologist) to conduct biodiversity surveys and share the knowledge with the local native communities in Sani. We discussed with the local community what they considered most important to achieve and what would be more useful for them. Based on this, we design collaborative projects such as recording bird species and providing them with audio recordings for their guiding experiences.

2019. Sani Research Camp, Ecuador Conservation, OPWALL.

Lead researcher on ornithology for Opwall in Ecuador Site: Sanni Isla Community. Opwall is an NGO based in England with several research projects collaborating with local communities throughout the tropics. My main work was to lead bird research for two months in the Ecuadorian Amazon, studying birds' behaviour, habitat use, and performing bird diversity surveys.

2018. Interactions and habitat use of three species of woodpeckers (Aves, Picidae) using radio-telemetry.

Relevance for conservation strategies in the Atlantic conservation strategies in the Atlantic Forest. Working together with Martjan Lammertink, I was a field assistant at the Papel Misionero Reserve, following and studying endangered woodpecker species.

2014 - Present. Behavioral and natural history changes of the Golondrina Tijerita (Hirundo rustica) working together with Facundo Gandoy.

Surveys across Argentina looking out for new nesting sites for the South American population. Banding and placing geolocators to evaluate changes in migratory patterns

2014 - 2016. Bird survey of the Formosa Nature Reserve

Proposal made by Administración de Parques Nacionales to perform a bird species survey

2012. Survey of birds as primary observer according to PNNAT 1128053 work protocol for the Santa Fe region.  In charge of INTA (National Institute of Agricultural Technology). Monitoring bird populations at regional level in the province of Santa Fe.

2010 - 2011. Bats of the fields and scrublands of Argentina: taxonomic, chorological aspects and habitat use.

I was a field assistant working with Fabricio Idoeta during the completion of his doctoral thesis in different sectors of the phytogeographic region of Campos and Malezales in Misiones, Argentina.

2010 - 2011. Presence and prevalence of chytridiomycosis and malformations in Anura - amphibian from agro-ecosystems of the Pampas region of Argentina.

I was a field assistant during Gabriela Agostini's doctoral thesis in the city of La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
