Computer Science with the basics of Geoinformatics

The purpose of the course is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and to work with basic hardware and software for processing space-coordinated information. Achieving this goal will contribute to the effective employment of graduates.

Geographic Information Systems

The purpose of the course is to continue to get acquainted students with the subjects of study, methods and procedures of work with:

1) appropriate technologies for obtaining geographical information, when technological means of obtaining information are considered for each information class;

2) a modern Global Positioning System (GPS - acc.);

3) general characteristics of geographical information and invariants of the technological scheme of the geoinformation system;

4) method of subject geoinformation modeling in OS Windows;

5) Graphical User Interfaces and functionality as leading GIS platforms - ArcView 3.x, MapInfo Professional, ArcGIS 9x, and geoinformation modeling modules - Vertical Mapper, Golden Software Surfer, GIS-Mod Analyst, ArcGIS Geostatistical Analyst.
