My grandfather Jean died during WW2, when he was a prisoner in Germany. The people who loved him have kept many documents (photos, papers, his personal notes, etc), as he disappeared abruptly in 1944.  Jean married Giselle, my grandmother, two weeks before the war was declared. He had to go. He came back only once a few months later for a few days, and had to go back to war. Giselle was expecting their baby, my mother, that Jean never met in real life, but only through the letters Giselle and him exchanged. Those letters are the main part of the book, with all the love and hope they contain. Giselle and Jean expected to meet again. So, from all those documents, including other things I heard about Jean, I made that book. It is all in French. The first part is devoted to letters and to the life of Jean and Giselle. The second part is about the captivity. The last part is about the death of Jean. If that book can contribute to a world without wars, then let's do it.
