We're excited to be able to offer a modified summer-reading program during the library's emergency closure. Read the details below.
Step one: Register online for summer reading beginning May 4. When you register, we'll email you a welcome letter, reading log, and calendar of events. Registration continues through June.
Step two: Begin reading. Keep track of your reading time using your reading log. Once you complete your log, bring it to the temporary, teeny-tiny library anytime between June 1-June 26 and pick up your prize. You can also submit your completed log at any in-person experience.
Step three: Keep reading! You have until June 26 to complete your log and earn a prize. Once a reading log has been completed and submitted, request a sheet of bonus tickets. There’s no limit to how many bonus tickets children can enter into the bonus drawing. Bonus prizes include bicycles, an Amazon Kindle e-reader, an instant-print camera, and puzzles.
All in-person experiences are hosted in the gym of the Giddings Elementary School (GES) at 1402 E. Industry St. Enter from Edgewood Ave (map below).
No registration required: Attend our weekly in-person summer-reading experiences.
Teens Only, Tuesdays from 3-4P: Our Tuesday program is reserved for young people between the ages of 13-17.
All-Ages Experiences, Wednesdays from 3-4P: Although primarily created for children 12 and younger, the whole family is invited to join our all-ages experience on Wednesdays.
All summer-reading participants are invited to celebrate the end of summer reading with a party Friday, June 26, at 11:30A. The party is also hosted in the GES gym.
