Paired with the experience of living and working in the Rohnert Park/Santa Rosa area, many of the assigned works of literature increased my awareness of the disturbing homelessness conditions in my community and elsewhere. Along with other heavy topics including sex trafficking, cultural violence, racism, suicide and more, my knowledge expanded through close readings and research projects.

Below I included a few of my favorite social justice pieces from Professor Janet Hess' Challenge and Response in the Modern World seminar, as well as Professor Romero's core C in Latinx Literatures. All of the following pieces highlight the aforementioned topics.
