Lesson Planning & Facilitation

Having been educated in a close-knit seminar setting, I quickly developed skills in lesson planning and facilitation. I regularly gathered ideas for group work, presentations, seminar questions and discussion topics in preparation for the following class. These acquired skills helped me to be well-equipped for my Track I Internship as an After School Program Leader through the Sonoma County YMCA, in which I assisted in preparing relevant lessons, fun activities, and instruction for a 2nd/3rd grade class.

Below, I have included several examples of facilitation prep work I completed for my seminar courses in Hutchins.

Protocol, Siddhartha & Focusing

For my lower division core LIBS 201 on Religion and Spirituality, I accumulated main points on the assigned texts for the week: Siddhartha and Focusing. With these points I formed and facilitated a discussion plan for seminar the following day.

In seminar, we regularly participated in group work. This is an example of a close analysis of the dark humor in Natalie Diaz's When My Brother Was an Aztec, in which we each gathered evidential quotes and provided separate commentary.

Above is another example of a close reading analysis group project from my Writing Intensive course, in which we each labeled and presented recurring themes in James Baldwin's short story collection, Going To Meet the Man.
