Goal: Students will be able to describe a horizontal translation of the parent function y=x^2 as the "opposite direction" of the number inside the parentheses with "x". They will be able to look at quadratic graph and write the equation based upon where the vertex moved to (as compared to (0,0) ) for the parent function y=x^2. y = (x-k)^2 means "move y=x^2 k units to the RIGHT" where as y=(x+k)^2 means "move y=x^2 k units to the LEFT".
