I had the opportunity to teach independently in three different classes. Each class was allotted 90 minutes, but since the classes were held in the morning, my mentor teacher suggested that I start a little later to give the students enough time to settle in and prepare for the lesson.
Honestly, this made time management quite challenging for me because the material I needed to cover was both extensive and complex. During my first class, I managed to finish exactly within the 90-minute time frame, although my mentor teacher had advised me to end the lesson slightly earlier. In the second class, I went overtime because I explained the material in too much detail and spent longer than expected on certain parts of the discussion.
By the third and final class, I reflected seriously on my previous teaching performances and made several adjustments to the way I managed the lesson. Thankfully, I was able to conduct the class more smoothly, finish on time, and even provide students with extra time for independent learning and review.
