University students are expected to:

✅ Communicate via email and discussion boards with tutors and peers.
✅ Use software like Word, PowerPoint, and Excel for assignments and presentations.
✅ Engage in online learning and research.

Learn My Way has free learning for you to gain digital skills to stay safe and connected. It's free, but you'll need to register with them to access all the material.
This free course, Digital skills: succeeding in a digital world, will develop your confidence and skills for life online, whether study, work or everyday life. It explores a range of digital skills and practices, including digital identity, digital well-being, staying safe and legal, finding and using information and online tools, and dealing with information overload. The importance of developing a critical approach to life online is emphasised throughout, whether consuming or creating information. You'll be encouraged to reflect on your own situation and to apply what you learn to real-life scenarios, using a digital skills plan to keep a record of progress.
Do you need to learn new IT skills or show what you've already got?
It is estimated that one in five adults lack foundation skills in digital technology.
We all use IT everyday for work and for leisure but sometimes it's not quite so easy to prove what you actually know. Our short IT courses will teach you new skills and expand on your existing knowledge.
At the end of the course you will have a certificate that will open doors to employment opportunities.
Essential Digital Skills - Entry 3 Award (45 Hours)
This course provides basic computer skills and enables learners to use online searches and shopping sites as well as government sites for public services. It includes learning how to create, edit and save different types of files such as text documents, image and video files.
This course is Free of charge if you have not previously gained an IT qualification at this grade or above.
