Visual Theme & Consistency:
The UI uses a rugged style throughout all elements.
The texturing on the UI is Medieval themed with dull colors & the texturing that most Medieval art has.
Color Palette & Contrast:
The color palette is mostly brown & beige with blues & reds for contrast & a pop of color to clearly distinguish the UI from the rest of the game & to add accessibility to those who cannot clearly distinguish close shades of brown.
Button & Interactive Elements:
All interactive elements have a thick black border around them at all times, and when they are hovered over, the black border turns white.
Any interactive element plays a sound and an animation to indicate to the player that the element has been interacted with. Interactive elements will be mostly squared with
Highlighting & Navigation:
Every menu option is brown with no border when not selected, & changes to red with a white border when hovered, and a sound & pressing animation plays on the button when clicked.
Typography & Font:
The font of the game is Playfair Display, which is a quite easily readable font and the size will be dependent on the element that the text is displayed on.
Larger elements will have larger fonts to fill them out nicely.
Reference Images:
Minecraft UI has a very rugged and boxy look to it, and Medieval Madness has something similar with its UI. The slight texturing and boxy buttons are very similar to what is in Medieval Madness.
The UI in Monster Hunter is very stylized with easily readable text on textured backgrounds and unique icons & ways of conveying information. The UI in Medieval Madness uses these aspects of Monster Hunter UI to its advantage to show the player information.
