Health Mechanics:
Gaining Health: There are health pickups dropped by enemies during combat.
Losing Health: During combat, the player will lose health when they are hit, and during puzzles, some traps can damage the player.
Health Indicators: There is a health bar in the top right that shows the player's health. It is a solid bar with health in the 100s.
Feedback on Health Changes: The player makes a grunting sound and a small sting plays telling the player they lost health.
Low Health Notifications:
Visual/Audio Cues: A slight but noticeable red flashing appears when the player has 10% or less health remaining. It also makes a slight beeping noise.
Urgency & Gameplay Impact: Health pickups drop more often at low health and there is an upgrade in the game that increases damage below 10% health.
Death Mechanics:
Death Animation & Feedback: The character does a long exhale before the camera rotates down and fades to black.
Player Notification: A large Game Over text appears on the screen with a continue, and a quit button underneath. Once continue is pressed a notification appears telling the player the previous knight's body has been found and the player can take some of their items back.
Respawn System:
Respawn Points: The player respawns at the start of the game as a new knight.
Inventory & Progress Retention: All of the player's possessions are kept on the body, and the new knight can loot the previous knight's armor, weapons, and 3 items from the corpse.
Penalties & Consequences: When the player dies, the character dies. They have to start over as a new character with some items from the previous.
