GlucoGlance: Beta Release 1
The Philosophy of the “Glance”
GlucoGlance was built around a simple but powerful idea: you should understand your status in under one second.
Most diabetes applications emphasize a single numeric value. Over time, this leads to data fatigue and constant over-interpretation. GlucoGlance takes a different approach — one rooted in Time in Range (TIR) and immediate visual context.
Modern diabetes management is not about chasing a perfect number. As shared by Marcia M. Malone, APRN, FNP-BC, the driving factor in health is remaining within defined boundaries for as much time as possible. Clinical guidance consistently shows that maintaining 70% Time in Range is a primary indicator of successful management. GlucoGlance is designed to make that range — not the number — the first thing your brain sees.
This is the philosophy of the Glance: minimal time, maximum clarity, zero interpretation burden.
A Passive Extension — Not a Medical Device
GlucoGlance is not a medical device and does not replace FDA-approved systems. It is a Secondary Data Extension designed to work alongside your existing, FDA-approved CGMs and pumps.
We do not:
Control hardware or deliver therapy.
Provide dosing instructions or modify medical data.
The “Passive Mirror” Architecture
GlucoGlance operates under a strict read-only philosophy:
Notification Mirroring: System alerts from approved apps are captured and visualized without alteration.
Cloud Polling: Historical records are retrieved from official cloud providers to build a unified, high-fidelity dashboard.
Arithmetic Verification: A local math utility allows users to verify insulin-to-carb logic and correction calculations used by their primary systems.
The CRTI — Logic in Motion
At the core of the experience is the CRTI (Colorized Rotating Trend Icon). The CRTI combines three critical concepts into a single visual element:
Color Logic: Reflects your user-defined glucose thresholds (Target, High, Low, Urgent).
Rotational Logic: Represents data velocity — the mathematical rate of change over time.
System Continuity: Follows you across the Android status bar, notifications, home UI, and Wear OS.
Beta 1 Highlights
Multi-User & Multi-Sensor Support
Roles: Supports both "Primary" (phone owner) and "Follow" roles.
Compatibility: Supports Eversense 365, Dexcom G7, FreeStyle Libre 3, Dexcom Follow, LibreLinkUp, and xDrip.
Logging & Fullscreen Graph Activity (FGA)
Three Dedicated Logs: Access isolated historical records for Glucose, Insulin, and Bolus directly from the navigation.
Source of Truth: To ensure data integrity, the Glucose log only captures data from the sensor designated as "Primary" at the time of the reading. While multiple sensors may be active, only the primary telemetry is committed to your permanent logbook.
FGA View: The Fullscreen Graph Activity provides long-range visibility, allowing you to overlay insulin data onto your glucose trends. This allows the logbook and any sensor that has had data collected.
Non-Destructive Analysis: Review historical data from any connected sensor in a unified view without altering the original source records
Intelligent Notifications
Combo Notifications: Combines Glucose (with CRTI) and IOB (Insulin on Board).
Math-Check Alerts: Notifications for correction boluses and nutrition alerts (excess carbs/insulin) to support arithmetic verification.
Wear OS Extension
Weighted Elements: Complications that visually prioritize your "Green" In-Range status.
Future-Proofing: Upcoming insulin decay visualization based on user-defined action duration.
GlucoGlance introduces a sophisticated, state-driven complication architecture designed to put the entire "Passive Mirror" experience on your wrist. These are not static labels; they are dynamic data engines that cycle through multiple layers of information with a single tap.
Live Glucose Status (CRTI Integration): This complication serves as your primary tactical display, utilizing the Colorized Rotating Trend Icon (CRTI) to visualize range and velocity simultaneously. It intelligently cycles through seven distinct states—from raw MG/DL and Delta values to Time in Range (TIR) percentages and elapsed sensor time—ensuring you never have to open an app to see your 1h, 3h, or 24h trends.
Live Insulin Status (Dynamic IOB): Designed for total metabolic transparency, this engine tracks Insulin on Board (IOB) alongside your last bolus metadata. It features an "Auto-Surface" alert system that automatically jumps to a correction state if the system detects suggested bolus or carb requirements, acting as a proactive safety net rather than a reactive log.
Visual Decay Ramps: Both the Glucose and Insulin services utilize custom "Ramp" iconography to provide immediate analog context. Whether it's visualizing TIR percentages or the mathematical decay of active insulin over a 4-hour window, these visual cues eliminate the "interpretation burden" by showing exactly how much life is left in your last dose.
Tap-to-Cycle Logic: Every complication instance is independent; you can set one to show raw numbers and another to show TIR. By tapping the element, you cycle through its internal states, allowing for a fully customized dashboard that responds to your immediate information needs without cluttering the watch face.
GlucoGlance Beta: Your Data, Everywhere
Total Immersion: Monitor levels via StatusBar, HomeUI, Notifications, and Watch Complications.
The Big Picture: Our custom LiveWallpaperService and Desktop Clock turn your entire device into a dedicated glucose display.
Eyes on the Road: Integrated voice alerts read your glucose aloud for safe, hands-free driving.
Always Visible: No more digging through menus—your levels are literally the backdrop of your digital life.
A New Way to See — Not Decide
GlucoGlance exists to answer one question instantly: “Am I in range, and which way am I moving?” Nothing more. Nothing less.
