Optical Illusion Art and pattern
2nd-4th Gr, 5th Gr. 8th Period
PROJECT DETAILS: Students learned about the Optical Illusion Art Movement and artist Bridget Riley. They were inspired by her paintings "Cataract 3" and "Blaze 1" above. They noticed how Riley used the art principle of pattern in making her illusion work. Fourth and Fifth graders worked on creating an illusion of a downward spiral, like in "Blaze 1" and second and third graders used pattern to create ripples for a hand and fingers, like in "Cataract 3"!
