How we work
The School pool operates on trust. Prior to pool opening, keyholders register online, download and sign the Pool Keyholder Agreement, and purchase their keys. Priority keys are allocated to those who are willing to volunteer with pool opening and closing duties through the season. Keys are collected during set keyholder meetings in the GBHS school library. There are no paid staff — just shared effort and mutual respect.
We're going paperless
In 2025, we introduced a new online register system and website with the aim of reducing the hefty paperwork and administration load for our volunteers. The data collected is private, held securely and shared with the School office. It not only helps keep track of over 100 pool keys and payments, the data enables the volunteers to do the most important and hardest job of all - set and manage two half-season rosters of 30-40 community volunteers.
Our Mission
While we’re always learning, the move online has been a game-changer — lighter admin, faster registration, and stronger community coordination. By pooling our time and care, we keep an essential community facility open — and strengthen the spirit of Golden Bay.
