At Garden Gate School, we believe that educating children goes beyond academics. We are proud to partner with Project Cornerstone ABC (Asset Building Champions), a program that helps students develop the social and emotional skills they need to become confident, compassionate, and successful individuals.
Developmental Assets are the building blocks that help children grow into caring, responsible, and resilient adults. Through Project Cornerstone, we work together to strengthen these assets and create a school community where every child feels valued, connected, and supported.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Parent volunteers visit their classroom once a month to:
Read a story focused on the month's developmental asset.
Lead a short discussion and simple classroom activity.
Help students build skills like kindness, empathy, responsibility, problem-solving, and positive friendships.
Training and materials are provided.
Volunteers are asked to:
Commit to the school year (8 monthly lessons).
Attend a brief monthly planning meeting.
Project Cornerstone is a meaningful way to support your child's classroom and help build a caring school community.
