Introduction
In this Taal, there are totally 16 beats (Matras). The first Thali falls on the Sam (X), Second Thali falls on the 5th beat. The Khali (O) falls on the 9th beat and the Third Thali falls on the 13th beat.
The Taal is divided into 4 parts known as Vibhag. Each Vibhag has 4 Matras making a total of 16 beats.
This Taal is very similar to Teen Taal and considered as a variety. The structure of the taal is similar to Teen Taal. But the usage of the Taal happens with certain types of Geet. It is played in Madhya Laya. Some call this as Sitarkhani Taal. There is no solo recital. It is a Sam-Pad Taal. The Chhand form is 4/4/4/4
