International Workshop on Galaxy Formation + AGORA in Asia 2025
May 26-30, 2025
Nakanoshima Center, the University of Osaka, Japan
The “International Workshop on Galaxy Formation + AGORA in Asia 2025” at the University of Osaka aims to advance our understanding of galaxy formation and evolution by fostering international collaboration and discussion among leading scientists. This conference provides a crucial platform for addressing some of the most pressing questions in cosmology and astrophysics, with a focus on intermediate to high-redshift galaxies, the latest observational breakthroughs from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), the soon-to-come data from the Subaru Prime Focus Spectrograph (PFS) project, and the evolving theoretical frameworks of dark matter and cosmology. The recent discoveries by JWST have reshaped our understanding of high-redshift galaxy populations and early supermassive black hole formations, highlighting the co-evolution of black holes and their host galaxies across cosmic history.
Additionally, the AGORA code comparison project will be a focal point of the latter two days, offering a collaborative platform for testing and refining computational models. This project’s contributions are invaluable for improving the accuracy of simulations related to galaxy formation, black hole growth, and their complex interactions with CGM/IGM.
This workshop is in part supported by the International Leading Research (ILR) grant, which aims to promote international research collaborations between young Japanese researchers and distinguished researchers who are invited to this workshop. We encourage the participation of early-career researchers (postdocs and graduate students in Japan) who are eager to establish fruitful research collaborations with foreign researchers. The primary goals are to strengthen international ties, foster a new generation of researchers, and advance our understanding of the universe through collaborative efforts. [ ILR HP ]
