Accommodation

ALERT:  Due to the Osaka World Expo starting in April, hotels are quickly becoming expensive, so we recommend booking your hotel ASAP. 

There are still many affordable and good hotels near the conference venue with rates at <~$150 per night. Japanese hotel rooms are not so large, so expect a small room with <~25 m^2, similar to the European ones.

# if you want to experience the bustling central Osaka, we recommend to stay near the Umeda station.

RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka (5min walk — right next to the workshop venue, this hotel hosted the G20 guests in 2019;  maybe ~$200 per night)

# If you want a Japanese onsen experience, this famous APA hotel has a large public bath within the hotel, and many Japanese people like this sytem:  

APA Hotel Osaka Higobashi Ekimae  (15min walk)

These are just examples that we picked out, but any of the nearby hotels would be just fine.  They are all in safe area, and no worries even in the evenings. Of course, near the Umeda station, there are probably more options for dinner location.

If you like a cheaper option, there are also many decent business hotels with <~$100 in the nearby area.
