NFMC Rules

1.       Be sure to read and follow the rules in the Festivals Bulletin 2020-2024 and in the Junior Procedures manual. If you need a copy, the Bulletin may be ordered online at:  https://www.nfmc-music.org/order-2020-2024-federation-festivals-bulletin/

2.  Check the recent Bulletin update before assigning the required piece as a few of the required pieces got moved to another level. Go to NFMC website:  BULLETIN_Updates_2023-05_May.pdf (nfmc-music.org) 

3. Choose repertoire according to the instructions in the Festivals Bulletin.   Enter student at performance level.  Required piece must be chosen from the Festivals Bulletin. Choice piece must be at the same difficulty as required selection. 

4. If the composer of your choice piece is not in Vivace database, email Wanda Louie wlpiano23@gmail.com  the full name of the composer, year of birth, year of death (if applicable), and nationality.

5.  Check for:

a. Concerto and Solo events/level correlation

b. Sight Play level equals Solo level. Sight Play must be entered with a solo event at the same level.

c. Ensemble partner levels must follow Bulletin rules.

Students may enter Concerto or Ensemble events without the requirement of playing a Solo at festival.

6.  Published scores of the required and choice pieces must be provided for the judges. NO photocopied music will be allowed.

7.  If accompaniment is indicated in the score, live accompaniment must be used.

8.  No photography, video, or audio recording will be allowed in the audition room during the performances.
