There will be different sections. Common misconceptions about trans people, bi people, general lgbtq+. These are mainly written by the Honorable and Lead Dude Bro (just saying mainly incase someone comes in and writes one).
Ok so people who are non-binary are transgender. I swear if I have 1 more cis het person come up to me and "inform me" that I have been wrong my entire life and am actually not trans i am going to crash out. Transgender just means that your gender differs from your assigned sex at birth, so most non binary people are transgender. Also stop arguing with non binary on this, like you do not know more than the actual non binary people I swear. Like stop trying to correct people about their own gender. Not just transphobes think this, regular supportive people can get confused too. But not all transgender people are mtf or ftm.
Lead Bros Thoughts- (although people such as cis demigirls may choose to identify with isogender (between cis and trans) because they feel that their gender is too close to their birth sex to be trans but it still technically is trans so you can just identify with whichever)
so transmedicalists say that you have to have gender dysphoria and medically transition to be trans which is not true. transgender is when you dont have the gender that you were assigned at birth which doesnt neceisarrily come with dysphoria (but it often does) like some people dont want to medically transition and thats ok gender isnt based on physical characteristics thats what queer people are trying to say but transmeds just seem to ignore that which is hypocritical (a lot of transmeds are transgender) like what are you doing bro ur enforcing the cis. they also dont really like nonbinary people because they arent transitioned enough to a certain gender. also some people cant medically transition even if they want to due to finances or their family so transmedicalism is also classist and out of touch with trans people's problems
There are many ongoing bills and laws that are attempting to make it illegal for transgender people to use the bathroom consistent with their gender. Even though trans woman (who are the main concern) have been shown to pose no threat to cis woman greater than other cis woman.
According to GLADD-
Current legislative and executive branch efforts to restrict transgender people and youth from public restrooms and similar spaces are based more in fearmongering than facts. Research shows no evidence of safety risks for cisgender people when trans people use restrooms aligning with their authentic gender; in fact, transgender people are at elevated risk for harassment and violence in these spaces.
According to the Movement Advancement Project, bathroom bans can result in “high rates of harassment and violence against transgender people as well as cisgender people, particularly women who do not conform to traditional ideas of femininity.”
lgdb- i bet you wouldnt want a fully transitioned trans man to go into the women's bathroom
Tell me transphobes, tell me you want that guy in the photo in womans bathrooms. Tell me you want lovely Jammi in womans bathroom (I love him go watch his videos!) also these photos are definitly copyrighted. Trans people face a lot of hate and persecution, they are not a threat to women. Also for those who say "oh well its unhealthy, it isnt right, it isnt safe" why dose EVERY SINGLE major medical center agree with providing gender afferming care.
It also causes intense discrimination for tomboys. I have heard stories of cis woman being discriminated against because of this.
A common misconception is that transgender people who undergo gender afferming surgries regret it. But according to that National Library of Medicine,
"A total of 27 studies, pooling 7928 transgender patients who underwent any type of GAS, were included. The pooled prevalence of regret after GAS was 1% (95% CI <1%–2%). Overall, 33% underwent transmasculine procedures and 67% transfemenine procedures. The prevalence of regret among patients undergoing transmasculine and transfemenine surgeries was <1% (IC <1%–<1%) and 1% (CI <1%–2%), respectively...
Based on this review, there is an extremely low prevalence of regret in transgender patients after GAS."
This showcases that fact that very very few transgender people regret surgeries. And even though a few do regret it, that dosen't mean it should be taken away. Around 10-15% of people regret cosmetic surgeries, should that be banned?
lgdb- more ppl regret their corrective spinal surgery than gender affirming surgery
Now I know a lot of people have lots of questions about trans people but some questions are very innapropriate. To put this into perspective try not to ask a trans person something you would not ask a cis person.
Here are some questions that as a trans person please dont ask me/ stop asking me (i have been asked some of these before)
What is your real name? What is in your pants? Can I see a picture of you before transition? Have you had surgery? Do you want surgery? Why would you do this? Isnt this hard for your family? How do you have sex?
Now im sure you can see the problem with the majority of these questions. No you can not learn a trans persons birth name, their name is real. You can normally not see pictures before they transitoned. Do not ask about their genitals or sex life that is very innapropriate. Not all trans people have had or want surgery and medical history is private. It was for me, to make me comfertable, I do not regret it and do not care too much about what others think.
You can ask a trans person, if they are comfertable with it, how they chose their name, maybe how being trans feels, transition process. Of course some people do not want to talk about this. But you can ask if you are close and they are comfortable.
